Kevin Dessart

An amazing overall experience. The crowd was huge and just being around all the people who were so excited was unreal. Everyone had on an Obama hat, shirt, blinking light or button. When President Obama took the oath you could just feel government at work. You could see a smooth transition of power and getting a chance to view it live was something I will probably talk about in class every year.

  1. I was so happy to read that you all got to the inauguration on time even though I knew how early you were leaving. The reporters kept saying how crowded the metro was and how long the lines were. Then an elderly woman fell onto the track (she's ok I guess) but it really slowed things down. I watched channel 2 all morning and even stood up to sing the National Anthem with you and the rest of America. After I saw what everyone was wearing I thought you should have worn your Abe Lincoln hat:) It's a great day. Also if not too much trouble, I'd like a Barack Obama pin. Thanks. Mom

  2. Having you in Washington made the experience that much more special. Of course trying to find you in the crowd was just like trying to find you at a Packers game only 20 times harder! Enjoy the experience. Dad

  3. Of course you would say something teachery - talking about this in class every year.
It must have been amazing though, I got goosebumps watching only parts of it on tv. They estimate 1.4 million people at the swearing in along with another .5 million at the parade. Funny how us Wisconsinites put it in terms of Lambeau's capacity, as that's exactly what we did here.
